What is a 'boutique' hotel?

Boutique hotels are typically smaller, and has been mentioned, aim for a ';quirky'; look and feel. If all of the rooms in a chain hotel look alike from location to location, it's just the opposite in a boutique hotel.





They often have higher prices--sometimes extremely higher prices--depending on the hotel and the location.
